Ageing and Age-Related Disorders Research Group and Division of Rheumatology, Department of Medicine are seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of a full-time research assistant.  In addition to having the skills and requirement as listed, the candidate should be able to work as a team, self-driven, organised and able to carry out work independently. The successful candidate will be involved in research projects in arthritis and SLE.

Skills:
1) He/She should be able to collate and analyse clinical and laboratory data.
2) He/She should be skilled in biological sample preparation (serum, PBMCs, DNA extraction) and ELISA. The experience in flowcytometry and PCR is welcomed.
3) Possess working knowledge in SPSS, Word, PowerPoint and Endnote.

Requirements :
1) A Malaysian citizen
2) Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
3) Basic degree in Science (Biology) or Biomedical Science with requisite molecular biology and immunology modules
4) CGPA above 3.2

Salary :
RM1800 per month.

Duration of appointment :
1 year (first 3 months of probation period)

Immediate Vacancy for Full-time Research Assistant (PhD/MEngSc) for a Project titled "Study of Neural plasticity of speech interpretation in people with hearing loss."

I would like to invite applications for Research Assistants – pursuing (PhD) and (MEngSc) on the project entitled:

Study of Neural plasticity of speech interpretation in people with hearing loss.  

This is an UMRG Sub-Program project funded by UM for 3 years.  The successful candidate will work towards respective defined objectives. He/she will be given an initial 6-month contract and extendable with increased salaries until the completion of the project, based on agreed milestones. Candidates must register as Master/PhD degree students in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya.

Requirements:

1.     1. Knowledge of Signal Processing.
2.     2. Basic Engineering Degree, CGPA 3.00 and above, preferably with Electrical/Biomedical Engineering background.
3.     3. Malaysian or international students. Proficient in English (written and spoken). (Malaysian students are encouraged to apply).
4.     4. Pleasant personality, hard working, independent and willing to work on a weekend if required.
5.     5. Ability to carry out research work quickly and efficiently.

We are looking for highly motivated, qualified and ambitious young people to join us in the laboratories of Professor Anthony Rhodes, Dept of Pathology and Associate Professor Dr. Ivy Chung,  Dept of Pharmacology, both of Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya (in conjunction with the University of Malaya Cancer Research Institute).  An RA position is available for a project in collaboration with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England, Bristol, United Kingdom working in the area of triple negative breast cancer. Candidate must apply for a PhD program, after finishing the 3-6 months trial period.

Requirements:

1)   At least a Bachelor Degree in Biology, Biomedical, Biotechnology or any related science disciplines from recognized universities. CPGA>3.7/4.0 is preferred.
2)   Excellent proficiency in English (written and spoken)
3)   Computer literate especially in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
4)   Able to work individually as well as in a team, and independently with minimal supervision
5)   Right sense of urgency, hardworking, pro-active and wiling to learn new skills
6)   Experience in histological techniques and/or cell culture or molecular research.
